Minetti Quartett Since its formation in 2003 the Minetti Quartett, consisting of four outstanding young austrian musicians, have enjoyed considerable success. In 2007 the quartet won the 1st prize at the international string quartet competition "Rimbotti" in Florenz and the Haydn prize at the Joseph Haydn competition in Vienna. The year before they won the international string quartet competition "Franz Schubert and the music of modern times" in Graz, Austria. In 2003 the quartet received the main prize of "Gradus ad Parnassum". In addition to an array of further awards and prizes, the Minetti Quartett has been accepted into several programmes that cultivate and support young artists, such as the Karajan Stipendium, Musica Juventutis Vienna, Live Music Now and Austrian Jeunesse. The Minetti Quartett has been chosen "Rising Star" by the ECHO Association for the season 2008/09 and will perform in this context at Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Stockholm Konserthuset, Cité de la musique in Paris, Cologne Philharmonie, Luxembourg Philharmonie, Athens Megaron, Brussels Palais des Beaux Arts, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, Salzburg Mozarteum and Vienna Musikverein. The four musicians went on tours to North and South America, Australia, Japan and to many major European music centers. In addition, they are welcome guests at major festivals, such as Aldeburgh, Kuhmo or Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the summer of 2006 they were designated to take part in the Aix-en-Provence Festival, and in the following season to play as laureates at the festival of the HSBC European Tour. The Minetti Quartett are currently continuing their chamber music studies with Prof. Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartett) and members of the Alban Berg Quartett at the University of Music, Vienna. As a member of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), they have attended master courses with Hatto Beyerle, the Amadeus Quartet, the Quatuor Mosaïques, the Hagen Quartet and many more. Since 2006 the Minetti Quartett has been kindly supported by Asamer Holding AG (Ohlsdorf, Austria). The National Bank of Austria has generously donated violins of Giovanni Battista Guadagnini (1774) and Gaspare Lorenzini (1756), as well as a cello of Giovanni Tononi (1681) for use by the members of the quartet. www.minettiquartett.at |
